Arthur Seligman (June 14, 1871 – September 25, 1933) was an American businessman and politician. A member of the Democratic Party, he notably served as Mayor of Santa Fe, New Mexico from 1910 to 1912 and as Governor of New Mexico from 1931 until his death. Leopold was born in Burlington, Iowa and received a Master of Forestry degree from Yale University. In 1909 he joined the U.S. Forest Service and from 1914-1924 he supervised national forests in Arizona and New Mexico. He established the first wilderness area in the Gila National Forest, New Mexico and was a founder of The Wilderness Society.
